Your Mind

You are NOT your MIND.

You are the SELF (your consciousness), and your MIND is your HOST.

The identity of SELF is distorted by the ‘noise’ created by its HOST MIND.

The SELF always evolves. Some faster, some very very slow.

The mission of mindbias.org is to help your consciousness, the SELF, to evolve.

The first stage of evolution is when the SELF:

  1. Is able to block the ‘noise’ created by its HOST mind
  2. Becomes an OBSERVER of its HOST MIND, instead to be a SLAVE of the MIND.
  3. Feels happy for somebody else, and becomes a GIVER

You can reach this stage of evolution only if you understand how your MIND works. Below are some basics.

Whether you like it or not, from the moment you are born, and as long as you live, your MIND will force you (the SELF) to:

  • Chase happiness. You are programmed to believe that happiness is the most important thing for you.
  • Compete with others for LOVE, CARE, APPRECIATION, and FAME
  • Prioritize the effort to provide the basic necessities of life

Your BRAIN plays tricks on you:

  • When you feel good and stable, your MIND gives you the illusion that you have unlimited time ahead of you. When feeling good and stable, we waste years, but when getting closer to the end, we bag for moments. Time is given to you for free, but is priceless. You can’t stop it, but you can use it to do things you like.
  • You will always obey to the “BRAIN reward system”, which consists in releasing DOPAMINE (the reward-hormone) into your body at the occurrence of a reward stimulus. Here are a few examples of reward stimulus:
    • when you pick an item from a shelf in the store, the reward system triggers the release of DOPAMINE. This is why certain people are addicted to buying stuff
    • receiving ‘likes’ on media
    • being famous /cheered in public
  • Your feelings are actually a mix of chemicals. Literally.

Hypothalamus is like a mini-factory which assembles certain chemicals that matches our emotions.

Some of these chemicals are neuron-hormones that hypothalamus will release in our blood stream.

There are chemicals for sadness, for victimization, for love, happiness, etc.

Be aware that you could get addicted to some of these chemicals. For example, some people get addicted to the chemicals of victimization, so always try to find a reason to feel victims. There could also be addiction to the chemicals of sadness.

How can you control the release of certain hormones:

Dopamine (the reward-hormone) is released when:

  • practicing daily physical exercise
  • solving a problem
  • reaching an objective

Serotonin (the mind-stabilizing hormone) is released when:

  • you say ‘Thank You’
  • you appreciate what you have
  • meditate
  • spend time in the nature

Oxytocin (the love hormone) is released when:

  • you are generous or helping other people
  • petting animals
  • socializing
  • hugging somebody

Endorphin (the pain-calming hormone) is released when:

  • you practice hobbies
  • laughing, singing, dancing
  • listening favorite music or watching a good movie
